Thursday Activities

*This week we will be learning how to build a bridge using our engineering skills.*

Science: 

Directions for the activity: Watch the two videos with your child. 

Engineering Activity: Can you build a miniature bridge with what you have at home? 


Make sure to send a picture to your teacher when you are done. 


ObjectiveStudents will develop a simple physical model to illustrate how these representations are useful in communicating ideas for a problem's solution to other people.

Wednesday Activities

*This week we will be learning all about animals that live in the ocean for social studies.*

Social Studies :

Directions: Watch the DIY jellyfish diver video. 
  1. You will need a water bottle, a straw, two paper clips, tape, paper, marker, scissors, and food coloring if you want your water to be blue. 
  2. Follow the directions on the video to make your own sea animal in a bottle. 
Please send a picture of your drawing to your teacher by posting it onto Classdojo or email it to Ms. Samano.

Objective: By the end of the week students will be able to share their thoughts about people, places, things, and events.

Tuesday Activity

*This week we will be learning all about subtracting to 5 for Math and in engineering, we will be making wind cars*

Math:



Directions: Watch the two videos with your
child. 

  1. We will be doing a cooky monster subtraction activity. 
  2. Draw a cookie monster with a big mouth. The cookies inside his mouth are the ones he will eat and the ones outside are what you have left. 
  3. Write the subtraction sentence under or over your picture. 
  4. Make sure you start with a group of 5 or less. 


Send a picture to your teacher through ClassDojo or text. 

Objective: By the end of this unit the student should be able to represent subtractions using objects, drawings, or mental images.
