Tuesday Activity

*This week we will be learning all about addition for Math as well as explore why things sink or float.*

Math:

Activity Video:  https://youtu.be/q7vfOEYqWDM

Directions: Make sure to complete the activity shared on the video. We will talk about it during our zoom class on Monday. Try making five out of as many combinations as possible.

Send a picture to your teacher through ClassDojo, email, or text.

Objective: By the end of this unit the student should be able to represent addition using objects, drawings, or mental images.

Science:

Today we will predict whether items will sink or float in water.

Scientific Question: Why do you think some things sink and some float?

Make a hypothesis about what will happen to each item.

Scientific Method song: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KIFz_-KzURY

Directions for the experiment: First, get a small container that you can fill with water. Then, find items around your house that you can use for this experiment. Make sure to ask your parents which items are ok for you to use. On a piece of paper write sink or float, like on the picture here. Next, predict whether each item will sink or float. Finally, test out your predictions by placing each item at a time in the water to see what happens to it.

Did you make the right predictions? If not, why do you think the item sank or floated?

Before you watch the sink or float video, film a short video with your response to why you think some items sink or float. Parents let them share with you before you share your knowledge.

Send your video to your teacher on class dojo or text.
