*This week we will be reviewing addition for Math as well as the different parts of a plant for science.*
Math:
- On a piece of paper draw two large flowers.
- On the center have your child pick two numbers larger than 5. You do not need to do the same ones I did.
- Inside each flower petal, draw some ten-frames that your child can use to show their work.
- Above each ten-frame, they should write the addition sentence that equals the number in the center.
Send a picture to your teacher through ClassDojo or text.
Objective: By the end of this unit the student should be able to represent addition using objects, drawings, or mental images.
Science:
Directions for the activity: Today we will be labeling the different parts of a plant.
Watch the videos with your child about the parts of a plant. Print or create our parts of a plant craft. If you want to make your own by hand, just use two papers one on top of the other.
Worksheet: print here
- First, divide the top paper in half vertically.
- On the left side have your child draw a large flower including the roots, stem, leaves, and flower.
- Then use a marker or black crayon to divide your flower into the 4 parts, as seen in the picture.
- Cut the 4 flaps on the right side, and on top of each of the flaps have your child identify which part it is.
- Glue only the left side to the second paper, which will allow you to open each flap to reveal what each part of the plant does.
Make sure to send a picture to your teacher when you are done.
Objective: Students will be able to describe each part of a plant.
